Our Story
The Beginning
Before AniEXP, we began as a social meetup group in 2021 known as AniManJapan. The aim was to provide a place for anime, manga and fans of Japanese culture to unite and share their passion in relaxed and wholesome environment. We would visit exhibitions and use venues to host our numerous events from manga to arcade nights!
Expansion and Growth
Fast forward a few years, we're now ready to evolve into an establishment we can truly call our own. One that can host its own events, open and close whenever they want and serve food and drinks that customers will love and expect.
Our Philosophy
Anime is such an amazing art form. It's fun, vibrancy, emotion, action, intelligence and moral rolled into one tv show or volume of pictures. At AniEXP, our philosophy is to spread the increasing love of anime throughout London (and someday - the world). We want to use this medium and culture to connect people of all age, gender, race and background. We want to create a place like no other, that is inclusive to all and encourages people to make new friends, learn new things and feel at home in the name of anime.
Our Mission
As well as providing a fun, easy-access space on the high street for all. We also want to push the norm of meeting new people and making friends. Despite technology and social media connecting us more than ever before, we are currently experiencing a social pandemic. Loneliness has become a major UK concern in recent years, with alarming statistics in the younger generations. We want to put a stop to that by promoting access to new friendships through an innovative concept that should be as simple as buying your local groceries. A friend shop: without the stigma of feeling like you have to be lonely to enter.
